Beat the Heat Wave this Free Font Friday

Baby, it’s hot outside. With summer in full swing here in the U.S., we thought you’d enjoy a couple of fonts from a cooler clime … with some decidedly chill design vibes.

First is Copenhagen Grotesk Nova from the David Engelby Foundry in Denmark. The package contains three styles – light, regular and bold – and is based on the 2015 Copenhagen Grotesk. It’s been thoughtfully redesigned with new details, simpler glyphs, moderated descenders and ascenders, and less accented capitals. Highly readable, this would suit any project looking for a clean, simple yet sophisticated feel. Download for business or personal use, free from MyFonts.

From Denmark we head north to Norway for Loki Sans, a handwritten brush script the redefines expectations of what “brush font” should look like. Created by designer Leva Mezule, this font was inspired by the old Norse god Loki, the shape-changing sky-traveling trickster. The free version is available in large caps; you can find small caps and multi-language support in the extended package.  Download free for business or personal use from Wild Picks.

Be sure to come back next week for another Free Font Friday. In the meantime, keep it cool while you play around with these two very chill fonts.
