Are we in some kind of steampunk holiday heaven? This week we offer you two free fonts that are vintage and hip at the same time … and it works in a big way.
First is Arber, a free vintage typeface from designer Krišjānis MežulisArber. The designer said he strove to be unique and “as pure as possible” when creating this. We think he nailed it. The rough texture and loose edges of this hand drawn font were created with a thin water brush on acrylic paper. It gives it a decidedly vintage look that is highly relevant to current design aesthetic. Download free from Wildpicks.
Next is Muara Rough, another texturized font, this one from Indonesian designer Adil Budianto. It’s styled to look like a typewriter font, making it great for books, magazines, packaging, branding and signage. Maura Rough is free for personal use; other variants with alternates and gorgeous swashes are available for purchase. Download from Befonts.
