Color On — The 51 Best Color Sites for Designers

A big thank you to PrintMag’s Jude Stewart for this list of the 51 Best Color Sites for Designers.  Stewart’s list kicks off with Color Hunt, a site that offers “a curated collection of color schemes for any purpose” in ready-made palettes.

Next on the list is COLOURLovers, a crowd-sourced collection. “300,000-plus designers and color-minded folks share color palettes on this site constantly, so there’s always fresh inspiration at the ready,” Stewart notes. They also offer a terrific blog on trends and color theory.

If you like to do your own color tweaking instead of picking a palette, the Adobe Color CC is indispensable. “Nice extra,” Stewart adds, “in addition to creating free-form palettes, you can also nudge them to conform to specific rules – like complementary colors, monochromatic or triads straddling the color wheel.”

The list goes on from there, with social media color tools like Color Palettes; color extraction tools like Tin Eye Labs; and Shutterstock Spectrum, which allows you to search the Shutterstock image database by color.

And for those of us who really love color, Stewart’s even thrown in a couple of color games, like Color Sheep, where you match the sheep to the wolves by color; and Blendoku, a puzzle game that will have you seeing color with the finest nuance.

Check out the whole list and have some fun with it; just don’t do it while you’re on deadline. This stuff is addictive.
