A Whole Extended Family of Free Fonts This Week

What’s better than two free fonts? Two big font sets with plenty of in-laws.

This week’s free fonts start with Butler, by Belgium designer Fabian De Smet. Inspired by the Bodani and Dala Floda font, the serif typeface is perfect for books, posters, headings and invitations. It was named a “font of the month” by Computer Arts Magazine, and we can see why. When used for “big, fancy stuff,” the results are just delightful.

Next up is Cormorant, a free display type family developed by Christian Thalmann of Catharsis Fonts. The whole family includes a total of 45 font files spanning nine different styles (Roman, Italic, Infant, Infant Italic, Garamond, Garamond Italic, Upright Cursive, Small Caps, Unicase) and five weights (Light, Regular, Medium, Semibold, Bold).  That’s a pretty big clan waiting for you.

Enjoy our picks this week, and don’t forget to show the artists some love. Looking for more free fonts? Check out our previous Font Friday posts, and sign up for the Freeport Press newsletter so you don’t miss next week’s.
