Design News: The Top Visual Trends for 2015

[responsive]Visual_Content_Trends_2015_Infographic_crop[/responsive]This time last year we were talking about the epic design battle of flat vs. realism. It was a trending visual topic in 2013 for designers, and sparked hilarious and heated discussions in the graphic world.

Today’s visual trends are more varied, and we’ve yet to see one either/or approach making headlines like that.  So what is trending in visual marketing design?

According to Kristin Piombino in Ragan, top image trends include blurred backgrounds, linear images and unique perspectives. Piombino gets her data from Shutterstock’s recent infographic on creative trends, which contains some important information for marketers and designers to understand.

“You know visual content engages people better than text, helps people remember information and can help you tell your organization’s story better,” Piombino writes.

“Now that everyone is jumping on the visual content bandwagon, it’s crucial that you not only produce visual content, but also ensure it’s better than everyone else’s,” she continues.

While we don’t encourage using these as gimmicks just to pull clicks, telling your story in ways that are currently resonating with your audience is always a good call. Plus, what’s a marketing meeting without a good zentangle?

Enjoy.
