It’s the second-largest city in Bulgaria, and home to around 350,000. And now Plovdid has a type family created by and in honor of its people.
According to its creators, PlovdivTypeface was developed after analyzing thousands of handwriting samples from local residents, as part of a collaboration between Studio Punkt and the Bulgarian type design studio Typedepot. The seven fonts were “inspired by the specific character of the city — warm, multicultural and multidimensional, yet tolerant and unified,” the creators note. It’s available in light, regular, bold, script, san and pictograms. Download free from Behance.
To accompany Plovdiv, try Santuy, a handwritten free font from UK designer Muhammad Faisal. Santuy has an edginess that makes it perfect for stand-out designs on badges, posters, product packaging, headers and brand applications. Download free from Behance.
