Facebook turned 10 yesterday. It’s hard to believe that just one decade ago, MySpace was the huge thing in middle schools around the country, and the grownups were blissfully unaware that Farmville and status updates were about to take over their spare (and not so spare time).
So just how big an impact has Facebook had on your own life?
You may not want to know.
Time’s Techland has come out with a calculator that answers the question “how much time have you wasted on Facebook?” With the average user spending 17 minutes a day on there, it can really add up.
It’s a nifty tool that runs through your feed and notes the timestamps on everything you’ve done to determine how long you’ve been on Facebook. (Note: To get the tool to run, you have to give Time Interactive access to your FB feed.)
So, what’s your number? How many hours/days/weeks/months have you frittered away? And how many random strangers have you allowed into your digital life? We aren’t telling, but you bet I’m going to share this on Facebook.
